“ Went here on Saturday the 21st of June .... booked a table as I know they can get very busy ..all staff that we dealt with were great and a real credit to the company...the place has a very warm ambience and is spotlessly clean.i opted for the big un and my wife and mam went for the billy murg haddock and chips....the big un is colossal and has to be seen to be believed....it's the biggest haddock I've ever seen on a plate and came with chips mushy peas and bread as well as a pot of tea.as does the billy murg haddock and chips....the billy murg is a huge piece of fish on its own....the big un is 24.95 but so worth it for what you get...I can usually finish off most meals but on this occasion was unable to because of the size of it...all of us agreed these were some of the best fish and chips we'd ever had and well worth the money...will definitely be returning in the future 5 ”

During my stay, I struggled to find a good fish and chips spot and was really missing that classic UK experience. Luckily, I came across this restaurant on my way back to the airport; and it was a fantastic choice! The food hit the spot and left me feeling very satisfied. A perfect way to end my trip. “ I've been craving proper fish and chips for a while and Murgatroyd's was on my mind to fix my craving. It's a long time since we were last here and if anything it's better now than it was then. There seemed to be available seating even though the restaurant was busy and I liked the wide isles between tables. Our waitress Jan was fantastic and within moments our order was taken. I opted for the haddock special and the boss had the cod special. My word the fish was MASSIVE and perfectly cooked, it was so big it made the portion of chips look small but in reality small it was not. Absolutely gorgeous, I did my very best and left only 2 garden peas. Please don't change. Great food, great restaurant and great service. Well worth the round trip from Liverpool ”
“ Travelled all the way up from London but stopped in Manchester on the day before just to come and have the haddock big Un with two pots of curry sauce and chips and it was absolutely delicious and the staff were so friendly and definitely can't wait to come back up again. The fish and chips were so delicious and I was glad that I made the long journey up just to try it based on the reviews I had seen on social media. The fish was so big and crispy, it actually took me 3 days to finish it. Can't stop talking about it to people that I know are from Leeds. ”
“ I drove 1 hour to get here and although I have eaten in some very good chippies recently, I think Murgatroyds deserves the top spot. Every part of the meal - fish, chips, peas and curry sauce - was delicious and the prices are very reasonable too. And the 'regular' portion is huge. (I'm glad they don't do the "Big 'Un" on the takeaway menu as I would have had to try it and likely regretted it.) Unfortunately it's 90 minutes away from me and so I won't be able to come as often as I'd like, but I think I'll make the effort every now and again. ”
“ Visited after dropping my daughter off at Leeds Bradford Airport. The place was really busy but we were quickly shown to a table. Our order was taken by a really pleasant young man and the food arrived in a reasonable time. We both had haddock and chips with a side of onion rings, delicious doesn't really do justice to the meal. The fish had lovely crispy batter and the fish itself was really well cooked, the chips were exactly what you expect chip shop chips to be, chunky and tasteful. We both had drinks and the cost of the food was really reasonable for the quality. ”
